THE HEADLINES
SPHS Drama is a CTE program in the Visual and Performing Arts pathway.
There are three level of drama classes (more below)
The SPHS Drama Club puts on three productions a year, the fall play, the spring musical, and the 9th-10th Grade Cabaret
The play and the musical are open for any student at SPHS to audition for
The 9th-10th Grade Cabaret is only open for member for the Drama Club
Other highlights include workshops from professionals in the field, trips to local elementary schools, end-of-year showcases, and many writing oppotunities.
DRAMA ONE (9-12) introduces professional-level acting techniques and show students how to take the first steps toward a performing arts career beyond high school
Building on the skills and experiences from Drama One, DRAMA TWO (10-12) prepares students for a post-secondary career in the performing arts through professional-level training, the building of a professional portfolio, and opportunities to create original material (prerequisite: Drama 1 or permission of Mr Hoffa)
DRAMA THREE (11-12) is a capstone class that allows students to graduate with a Certificate of Complete of the CA CTE pathway for Arts, Media, and Entertainment. Recent graduates studied or or studying theater/drama at Julliard, NYU, UCLA, Boston Conservatory, Gonzaga, AMDA, AADA, Vassar and others.
